11 Filipino Billionaires Make it to Forbes List


This is a good year for the Philippines not only because of constant Philippine Stock Exchange increase, but because Filipino business giants are now in the world map of business as 11 filipinos have made their way to Forbes list of billionaires.

Still led by Henry Sy and Family, from only 6 Filipinos who made it to the Forbes' list in 2012, another 5 pinoy business giants added to the list. New members this year are David Consunji and family, George Ty and family, Lucio and Susan Co, Robert Coyiuto Jr., Tony Tan Caktiong and family and Andrew Gotianun and family.

With estimated net worth of $13.2 billion, Henry Sy and family is still the Philippines' wealthiest man while Lucio Tan with $5 billion follows him on the list. On the world list, Sy is on the 68th place while 248th for Lucio Tan.

The 2013 Forbes list has 1,426 billionaires across the globe on its roster with an aggregate net worth of $5.4 trillion. Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim is still the wealthiest man on the planet, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amancio Ortega of Spanish retailer Zara.
