Filipino Consumers Most Optimistic in the World


Survey says that despite the debt crisis in Europe and the fiscal diff in the US, Filipinos look forward to better employment and are currently the most optimistic consumers in Southeast Asia, and second most optimistic globally.

Dr. Venkatesh Balah, chief enocomist at The Cambridge Group and a part of Nielsen said, "Consumers are preceeding with caution in 2013 and showed renewed discretionary spending restraight in the last quarter amid global economic and political uncertainty."

On the last quarter of 2012, Filipinos who responded to the survey perceived their economic state as being in a recession is about 50% which is a sign of improvement compare to 56% and 59% in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2011.

For local job prospects, Filipinos was the world's highest, up 4 points from the 3rd quarter of 2012. 76% who responded said that they see a good employment opportunities on the next 12 months. - Business Inquirer
